CCI

The CCI is the Consumer Confidence Index which is an Economic Indicator released by the Conference Board at 10am EST around the middle of the month following its calculation.

The CCI is calculated from the Consumer Confidence Survey which is based on a sample of 5,000 US Households and includes data taken from the help wanted adverts in newspapers. It is considered to be one of the most accurate indicators of confidence in the economy.

Traders usually look at the level of the CCI compared to its 3 to 6 month MA. A figure released above the MA indicates confidence in economy which indicates increased spending by consumers and a widening economy. This is generally bullish for stocks although if the CCI is rising too quickly this can indicate potentially higher inflation with its consequences.
