Bull 2 Bear and viceversa

This is a very important concept to keep in mind but needs a detailed clarification from you guys. It would be nice if some one could contribute charts to this concept or support it with an example:
"No market can go from a bull to a bear before we trade and close below the low of the high bar"
"No market can go from bear to bull until we trade and close above the high of the low bar"
