ES 5/17/2011 Unfilled Gaps

Good morning!

Watching 4/15 (1316.25) and 4/19 (1308.25) unfilled gaps for support this morning.

the 1318.3 number I had could be in play? DX didnt make a new high with the low. Dow is odd today much heavier downside , stopped at S1

Those unfilled gaps are almost always big support/resistance.

A little more confidence in here 12352 (Stretch 423 DOW), USDCAD stopped at 161 , DX hasnt made a new high.

hey silverharp, may i ask what was the entry level that got stopped at S1 (as per your previous post)

did you get long at the 4.236 on the the dow?

may be we should take this chat the other thread since i believe most people here don't look at the stretch...so my apologies

can you describe when that gap occurred?

the date of that gap?

I'm lookin' at a daily chart, and I can't figure out gap with handle 16

I see the dates you posted, but I don't understand the 16 handle

I use the 4:00 EST close rather than the 4:15 when dealing with gap fills, so perhaps that is the confusion? EDIT: And they must be filled during RTH.

Some interesting gap fill statistics based on a script I use that tracks the past 6 months of gap fills:

Of the past 115 fills, 92 were filled the same day (~80%) and 8 were left unfilled. So, after today, those numbers will change to something like 117 fills, 93 same day, 7 left unfilled (since 4/15 and today's gap was filled today).

Speaking of gap fill levels, today's gap fill is at 1327.25, which we have been struggling with for the past 45 min or so.
