Cable is a term that is used to refer to the currency pair GBP/USD (British Pound vs US Dollar) when it is traded in the foreign exchange market.

It derives its name from the Transatlantic Cable telegraphically linking the UK with the USA, enabling messages with currency prices to be transmitted between the London and New York Exchanges.
