The E-mini S&P500 Future is an index future based on the S&P500 index. The 'E' in E-mini stands for Electronic and the 'Mini' signifies that it is smaller than the traditional pit-traded S&P500 Index Future. The Ticker Symbol for the E-mini S&P500 Index Future is ES and you will often see it referred to as just ES in trading text. It trades in values of $50 per point. Compare this to its big brother the SP which trades in values of $250 per point, or five times the size of the ES.
