  3. Having connected to the Othernet network use the "/join #emini" command (without quotes) to join the #emini trading room.

If you're having problems remaining connected to mIRC then click Staying Connected for some tips.

Connecting to #emini

To join our free live trading (chat) room you will to connect to it in one of the following ways.

Our live trading room (technically called an IRC channel) is called #emini and is hosted on the Othernet IRC financial network. Please read the trading room rules before joining.

You can join our chat room through one of the three following methods:

  1. Use an IRC client. (Requires installing software.)
  2. Use a web based IRC client (no software installation necessary).
  3. Use eSignal's IRC chat client.

A. Use an IRC client

  1. Download and install an IRC client such as mIRC: www.mirc.com (You can also find out what IRC is and how to use it on this site.)
  2. Once you've started your IRC client you should connect to the Othernet network.
  3. Having connected to the Othernet network use the "/join #emini" command (without quotes) to join the #emini trading room.

For more details on fine tuning the settings for mIRC please click here.

B. Use a web based IRC client

  1. Connect to the room via java chat
  2. Click on the following link: Othernet Financial Network Live Chat
  3. Once the Java Client has connected you should type the command /join #emini in the command line at the bottom of the window. This will connect you to the #emini channel.
  4. You will receive a welcome message. Now type /nick YourName and replace YourName with a nickname to identify yourself.
  5. If this nickname is already taken you will get a "NickName already in use..." message. If this happens then try it again and use a different nickname.
  6. If the nickname change is successful then you will get a "javaguest123 is now know as..." message.
  7. Changing your nickname is not essential but it makes it much easier for us to identify and help you.

C. Use eSignal's IRC client chat

  1. From the eSignal menu: File -> New -> Chat
  2. You will be greeted by the chat window. Now click the "join" button opposite #esignal.
  3. You will be asked for a Username. You can type anything here but we suggest that you use something descriptive to make yourself easily identifiable. (If that name is already taken then you will be told that and will be asked to chose a different name.)
  4. Once you are in the #esignal channel type the following (without quotes) on the command line and press enter: "/join #emini"
  5. Once in the channel you will be able to see other people typing comments and you will also be able to type questions and comments yourself.
  6. If you're using the eSignal client then you will be able to post charts in real time using the eSignal Snapshot tool which is in the tray (bottom right hand side of toolbar) on your desktop. (To learn how to post charts into the channel please visit this eSignal page.)

If you have problems connecting then as for help in the forum.
