Close vs. settlement price

I notice on the "Daily Notes - Numbers for day traders" page for the DJ Eurostoxx 50 that the settlement price is used for the pivot calculations instead of the actual close price. For 16 Dec the settlement price was 2452. However, the actual close price 4.5 hours later was 2513. Depending on which price is used there can be a large discrepancy in pivot values as is the case here. Which is the correct price to use? Some traders seem to use the settlement and others the actual close. Any opinions would be appreciated.
