I let a few sticky topics slide to make room for this one. This way there is a reference, a database, of terms I use. This will decrease the time I spend on things like the daily synopsis, and when we post real quick in the daily ES topic, for example. Now, if you see a term I use and don't know what it is, please check here first. If you ask me a term and it is on here already, I'm going to frown at you :-(
I will add to this as time goes on. It will be a locked topic. If you want to ask about new terms send me an e-mail, or ask it elsewhere as it comes up and I'll add it.
RTH -Regular Trading Hours
GLOBEX - Used to refer to overnight data, usually in the ES, although all the electronic trading all day is also actually on GLOBEX
HOD - High Of the Day
LOD - Low Of the Day
POC - Point Of Control, from market profile
VAL, VAH - Value Area Low and Value Area High, also from market profile
DP -Daily Pivot
IB - Initial Balance (do some Internet research)
V - Virgin (Don't even think it). A point that has not been tested yet, as in virgin POC (V POC), virgin daily pivot (V DP), etc. Use a space between the 'V' and the specific item.
ABCD - 'Standard' ABCD (1.000 price projection)
x.xxx ABCD - 'Alternate' ABCD (such as 1.128 ABCD)
EXP - Expanding ABCD
DTP, DBP - Double Top, Double Bottom ABCD (as in Double Top ABCD Pattern)
TD - Trend Direction ABCD
FLAT - Flat ABCD
4PT - 4-Point Continuation Pattern. If I forget, I may use 4-Point CP at times.
TL - Trend Line
SL - Spike Line
W# (W1, W2, etc.) - Elliott Wave 1, Wave 2, etc.
H&S - Head and Shoulders
3D - 3-Drives
DT, DB - Double Top, Double Bottom, not to be confused with the DTP and DBP ABCD's
HH - Higher High
HL- Higher Low
LL - Lower Low
LH - Lower High
B/E - Break Even
KIG - Kiss It Goodbye, refers to when something is breaking out and expected to run (long or short)
KTK - Kane Traders Know, or Keys To Kingdom, a term roofer coined
Rip - The opposite of dip, as in 'Buy the dips, sell the rips'
HC - A new one I just coined, 'Heinous Chop', for when it just chops like crazy
HC^2 - Pronounced HC squared, a hyper version of HC
DPO - Didn't Play Out
Mud, or 'The Mud' - Slang for crude oil
// - shorthand for parallel, as in upper // or lower //. I prefer this, as outlined in MLFS, to the old style upper MLH and lower MLH that many use.
MRRD - 'Manipulation Ramper Robot Drone', robotic government sponsored programs using tax dollars to manipulate the market up. This has evolved out of the PPT (Plunge Protection Team), which was created to stop catastrophic plunges, to just complete market manipulation for any and all political agendas. Of course there is no 'proof' available to you and I that this is actually happening, so I am offering all this as a conjecture on my part, for fun. But nothing anyone will ever say or do will ever convince me it isn't happening...
U.S. Nightcrawler - A Zero Hedge derogatory term for the soon to be worthless U.S. dollar. Personally, I think the USD will never be worthless, since it will always be in high demand as toilet paper, for getting kindling started on fire in fireplaces, and so on.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz - Used mostly in chat rooms, but can also be used in the ES daily posting area, to represent falling asleep during dead action.
GZ (Game Zone) - The area between the .786 and .886 of a correction in an uptrend, where, I feel, they like to play games when they are in 'manipulation mode'. This area is usually cleared pretty quickly, and then when the swing low is taken out, further acceleration can follow. To avoid this they come in with their manipulation, and they seem to do this in the 'Game Zone'. Hence, from a management standpoint, I look for clues to their intentions in the 'Game Zone'.
KZ (Kane Zone) - The area between the .382 and .447 in a trend, off a major, notable swing point. This is my favorite area to trade from.
Snap trap - Another KT original term. This is an obvious trap 'they' set up to get the suckers. You'll see an obvious TL with multiple tests, a daily high that has been tested (plus or minus a tick or two) repeatedly, or some such layout. This is the trap. It takes the area out, sucking in many new buyers or sellers, and hitting the stops set there for the traders on the other side. Everyone is happy now, for a few seconds. Then they spring the trap and reverse it so fast you can't even believe it. That's the snap. It's a deadly quick reversal once everyone is trapped. A 'snap trap'. Watch for it, they do it with great frequency. Also watch for the totally artistic 'double snap trap', where, once they do a 'snap trap', and that gets everyone, they do it again, getting the suckers going the other way, since suckers never seem to learn. This allows the move that was originally under way to play out, simply grabbing suckers going both ways first, to 'clear the path', and give them some free money.
'Too easy' - Always written with single quotes around it. This is a term Jim coined regarding the KT methodology. Sometimes the market just hits the areas, especially ABCD's at KZ's, one after another. 'They' seem to 'see' the same areas as the methodology, and they relentlessly hit them. After a time it just looks 'Too easy' what they are doing. Like, can it really be that simple? That's when Jim usually posts the comment regarding a post pointing out one or more of these areas: 'Too easy'. It's not meant to imply trading is easy, or simple, or to trivialize the endless hours needed to develop competency. It's meant to imply sometimes they just do things that follow the tenets of the methodology so closely that what they are doing seems 'Too easy'.
WAG - Slang for Wild A#& Guess. This is a term Jim uses sometimes when making a guess on something that may happen, and it is not based on technical factors, or even a good instinctive hunch, it is simply a Wild A#& Guess on something perhaps about to unfold.
1-2-tick game - This is where the evil manipulators drive it to a high or low, within one or two ticks (so, exactly at, or one or two ticks above or below, in that range), and then do a snap reversal to trap and hammer everyone.
'The Player' - This is a fictional character that Jim often uses for teaching various points. He is a mythical big trader who only trades when he has a perceived edge. Although he doesn't have insider information, he trades with the insiders, mostly by understanding the game, and the games being played, and swinging a big line in that direction. He's a combination of lots of experience, lots of success, lots of money, and lots of street smarts. Bottom line, he knows the game, inside out and backwards. Like the guy from the Dos Equis beer commercial, he's the man. He's 'The Player'. When Jim talks about his (fictional, since 'The Player', after all, is fictional) positions, there's a point to be made, a lesson to be learned.
Die, pig, die! - An expression Jim uses frequently. He often refers to the market as as an oinker, or as a piggy. When this bloated, overpriced, manipulated market starts to sell (Jim's favorite side), he is heard to call it a pig, piggy, or oinker, and then include various oinking sounds to the comment, like "Oink, oink, you oinker pig.", or "Oink. Oink. Oink, oink..." When it finally starts to give way in a decent sized intraday move (triggering Jim's fantasy of someday seeing the ES at 'fair value' just under 400), Jim is often seen posting the comment 'Die, pig, die!' It's become a forum favorite.
