for my own trading, 90% of the time i do not mix my geometry charts and my trend charts that have the ma's...they have different purposes and i find i think clearer if there are 2 charts.

That's a great suggestion, roofer. I have a lot of real estate, so I do multiple charts for a given issue. I almost always have one blank chart just to make sure I 'see' the price action unencumbered by anything. I think what you are suggesting is a good idea for everyone to explore.
As an aside, I recently saw something as far as monitor configuration, and I thought it was very cool, and the next time I upgrade I think I will try it. This is only for those who want lots of real estate. Many don't need it, so if you are content with a screen or two, no need to comment that that's all you need. Most people nowadays are using four monitors per comp, either as two dual cards (my choice), or one quad card. For more than four monitors I go to a second comp, where I may put my trading platform, browsers, and such.
So, with four monitors side by side, that may be one comp setup. Nowadays monitors are all 'wide screen'. The current rage is to set up the monitors not left to right but sideways (various stands are available for this, if the monitor can't do it already). This way you get about the same as an old non-widescreen configuration left to right with the four, but much taller. Lots more total space than an old four monitor setup. You may have to tilt your neck up a bit more to see the top of the screens, but wow, the space. Anyway, for those that care. I didn't mean to highjack the thread.

i actually trade one screen and because my thoughts are fixed i do not like seeing price moving while i am thinking thus i trade the charts from stock charts.. if i need to update, i just hit update.every night i update a page''today'' with what i will be trading the next day... ..for the time being i have returned to a trading room so that i do not have to deal with order entry... i just call out my order and get my fill back. I DO NOT WATCH PRICE... i watch time and geometry.

Cool thoughts, roofer. I can see how focusing on one chart and screen could really improve focus and concentration. I'm so rooted in at least eight or more charts at any given instant I'd feel hamstrung if I had any less. But to be able to call out a trade and have it filled, now that sounds wonderful beyond description. I can't imagine just watching my charts, focused, and saying something and getting a fill. And then calling out sell orders in layers, scaling, by calling it out. That is something I would love to be able to do, instead of popping over to another computer and fussing with various platforms and screens (I like screen (chart) based trading). Very cool info, roofer.

These are all great suggestions that will help us serious traders find our own style.
I like using separate charts with different information but then I will sometimes miss something by not looking at the right chart. Probably just a skill I need to improve.
I'm also getting better at charts with many, many lines and not being totally overwhelmed and getting "brain freeze". Again, just a focus skill that can be improved with purposeful practice.
