i am starting a topic '' slate pile'' in the free area.... my goal is to attract some new traders to this forum.i am asking this favor this one time... that no one from this private area comment on my posts, including jim. i believe that when we do comment in the public area on each others posts , it is immediately seen as a preplanned sales campaign open to attack from the peanut gallery...thanks.

You are going to post in the regular free area? Not my KT free area? Do what you want, but I think that will lead to trouble for sure, for one simple reason. You would like to stir up interest for this forum, and that can only be done if you somehow try to show what we do is worthwhile, and for a price you can see it. That will never work 'out there'.

I agree 1,000% that if anyone, especially me, makes any post replies it will be slaughter city. But, I guess I ask that if your motivation is to generate interest for the private forum, don't do it here. This is the wrong crowd, the wrong audience for it. I really, really appreciate you telling others at other forums about my work, and it has led to some great students, and great relationships, as well as great members in the private forum, but those are different kinds of forums.

They are ones where the people there would be much more amenable to the methodology, and where you were highly respected, sometimes for years, before you mentioned me. Here they have the idea you are a shill right from the start, and I was even accused of being 'roofer'. That's how much they are 'out to get us'. I just see no point to have any involvement with such a crowd, where the handful will see one post and immediately plot on how to 'get' you.

But, do what you want to do, and if you want to go out there go for it. Just don't do it to generate any interest for the private forum, because I'd prefer no one from 'out there' come in here anyway. As far as posting elsewhere, I always appreciate that. I won't reply to any posts you make 'out there', which wouldn't have been an issue anyways because I never read the public forum. Thanks for trying...

I see you posted in the public KT area. That should be safe. Great post. You show some really nice stuff, I'll give you that. Now watch, the first question you get: what does the 'geo' mean? Too funny.

Okay, I guess I'm just in a p#%&ed off mood, so I'm going to 'go off' here to vent a bit. I don't know, maybe it's just some things in my personal life have me grouchy so I want to yell and shout. Who knows. If you don't want to hear a rant, just skip this post. Here goes.

First off, roofer, I've been following your posts in the slate pile. Great stuff. Fantastic stuff. Nicely done. I just love it. It's all so artistic and beautiful the way the universe works, isn't it? Even though my way is a bit different, both our ways are tweaks on the same universal foundation. I can see the beauty of 'my way', just as I can see the beauty of 'roofer's way'. After all, they are (in my opinion) two paintings of the same mountain scenery by two very skilled artists. Each an interpretation of the same incredible work of nature.

So, it doesn't sound like I'm too p#%&ed off, does it? Well, so far how many people have replied or commented? Essentially none. And the b@$ch of it is, I really doubt anyone out there has a freakin' clue what you are showing. But, again, Jim, why so p@$&ed off? I was thinking about how we were treated out there, and the things people thought not just of me, but of roofer. Look at those freakin' posts. Look at what is shown there, the detail, the sharing. Give me a f@$&in' break.

You can't look at that work and have anything to say but 'Oh, my god, thank you. We are not worthy. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don't know whatever possessed you to share all that, for free, but, again, thank you.' Instead we got 'I want to see it in real time.' and 'Go away, shill.' and 'roofer is really Jim posting against himself so he can sell books.' You know what? F@$& you.

My point here is not only do I see the reactions of people in the past as extraordinarily and extremely disrespectful, I can also see just how clueless they all are in that they can't see what is being shown. I'm not saying trading is easy, or that all of what is being shown can be mastered after a look at a few charts. I'm only saying that with all the skills all these 'And I just bought another sports car to go with all my other sports cars in my garage of my mansion, all bought with my trading profits' traders have, they can't even see the merits of what he is showing?

People, in general, don't grasp the concept (explained with a bit different wording, but nonetheless the same concept) that both myself and roofer discuss, in that you see an idea, then you work with it, thousands and thousands of charts, and see what use it has for you. People want to be told exactly what to do, and not only that, they want you to prove to them it works.

If you present an idea and then tell them to work with it and see if it is any use to them, they not only won't thank you, they won't likely do anything with it, and they may even demand you prove it to them first. This they do instead of being tremendously thankful. To all these people I have one thing to say: 'F#%& you.'

I am sick and tired of seeing work like roofer is willing to share, and watch a world full of lazy, mostly brainless slackers dump on it. You share some mindless crap with them, as long as it requires no work and no thinking, and they are forever grateful. Show them profound stuff of almost infinite value, and they not only can't see it, they start making demands and dump on it. To me, those people can p#%& up a rope.

I've reached the breaking point of seeing a topic like roofer has put together, and seeing no replies, or replies that are off topic or meaningless. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten the typical slew of posts from people posting their work. No concept of thread integrity or anything. But, mostly what set me off is this feeling of just talking endlessly to a world that doesn't understand a word I'm saying. I see roofer's stuff, and I realize it's mostly the same. It's spelled out pretty clearly, but almost no one has the skills or work ethic to grasp word one of it.

I guess I just want to share some things with people, to have a few truly understand what I am saying. I started mentoring with the idea of creating colleagues, so that some people would understand me. That program has had some success in that regard, but it has been limited. I have brought some people up to levels far beyond what I thought I would ever be able to do, and yet I still 'feel empty'. I found that as their levels came up, so did mine, and mine is rising fast. So I've never been able to really share with anyone on the level I dreamed about. To have a conversation in a certain way. It just isn't going to happen.

Now, this all goes way beyond just trading, or just showing someone some trading skills. This is another goal I came to want as my own journey progressed. It is one I see now I likely will not achieve. And, saddled with that immense frustration, I just get set off when I feel particularly disconnected, and then I read all those great, great posts by roofer, and all I can think of is that line from the movie 'The Wall' (it's from the album, but the visual in the movie really says it for me): 'Is there anybody out there???' And then I literally just feel like crying as the answer hits me...

I see no one dared even comment on all that. I wanted to also mention I seem to be the only one voting roofer's posts up over there, since he has just +1 scores on many of them, and that's me. So, no one out there finds them valuable, despite the huge number of reads (I know he isn't doing it for votes, that's not my point, my point is as a feedback mechanism, no one is stating they find them valuable). And, as I mentioned in the post above, they want it super simple, just a simple set of instructions they can program their Trade Station to do while they are doing something else, and have it mint them money. And, lo and behold, as if on cue, look at the single reply roofer finally just got. I rest my case.

well the good news is all of jim's above expectations and predictions are true....what is remarkable is that i have delighted some preteens by showing them the setup and letting them find it as a computer game... but they soon get bored.. it is too simple and not enough of a challenge. and know this.. some of the group i was showing this to were commenting negatively on the setup without having even looking at the charts!same old .....the bad news is it is out on google under''slate pile'' the good news is... who the hell is going to take seriously work posted under'slate pile'!!!?at any rate... thanks again jim for giving me the number that makes my world possible...

Hey, all that matters is that I created what I did and passed it on, and a few were able to use it and make use of it. I can say the same for you, thanks for getting me to think about lines and synergy, which got me to explore in ways I likely wouldn't have otherwise, and hence develop my path, my methodology. We have no idea how what we do does indeed affect others. It's just not in the obvious way I seek, to see the person come to understand the work, do the work, and produce results that I can tangibly see. A start to finish process that I can observe.

I have to be happy with the few that can take from my work, and perhaps in no more of a way than knowing it helped them develop their own plan. In that way I'm very thankful to roofer, who has had a profound effect on my own development, in that manner. I didn't study roofer's way and, with some personal tweaking, go down that path. I went completely on my own path. Yet that path was determined, in no small part, by what I took from roofer's work. It has made a huge difference to me, among the handful of most influential people. In that way, I guess I have to be content that hopefully a few will take from me in that way.

Wow, you got one really nice response in the slate pile. I'm impressed. He also pointed out something that is really key to this discussion. He said he rarely looks back. roofer and I have probably spent 50,000 hours between us (maybe a lot more) looking back. I think most traders spend little if any time looking back. I guess they feel the past has nothing to do with the future? History may not repeat, but it rhymes, they say.

How can one be a technical trader, based on the assumption that history in the market rhymes, and yet have no idea what the history is? I think that is a lot of why we see what we see, as far as knucklehead comments, when it comes to roofer's work. Anyway, I'm so happy to see one great comment, and from someone who has made some posts and has a good rep number.
