Definition of 'Runner'

A runner or runners usually refers to a number of contracts left on a position to attempt to get extra profits if the market moves further in the current direction. A trader will take off some of his/her position (and might move a stop loss to break-even) and then let the balance of the position run to larger targets (or be stopped out).
