American Stock Exchange AMEX
AMEX is the American Stock Exchange. It is the third-largest stock exchange by trading volume in the United States. Located in New York City, it handles about 10% of all securities traded in the U.S.
Until 1921, AMEX was known as the Curb Exchange. It has recently merged with the NASDAQ.
Once a strong competitor to the NYSE, it now sees almost all its trading in small-cap stocks, exchange-traded funds and derivatives.
