Definition of 'XCD (Eastern Caribbean Dollar)'
The Eastern Caribbean dollar (ISO 4217 code: XCD; symbol: $; also called the EC dollar or EC$) is the currency of eight Caribbean countries that are members of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU): Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The Eastern Caribbean dollar is subdivided into 100 cents. The Eastern Caribbean dollar is issued by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), which is headquartered in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis. The Eastern Caribbean dollar is pegged to the United States dollar at a rate of EC$2.70 = US$1.
