Consumer Credit
Around the fifth business day of each month the Federal Reserve Board of Governors releases the Consumer Credit figures. These figures cover data two months prior to release month. Values for January are released in March.
The figure released is the dollar value of consumer installment credit outstanding. This is a lagging indicator due to the month between the end of the reporting period and when the figure is released.
Since the global financial crises started the debt-to-income ratio (which shows how indebted consumers are relative to their income) has been following a downward trend.
