US Holiday New Year's Day

In the United States, New Year's Day is a federal holiday, which means that most banks and government offices are closed. The stock and bond markets also observe this holiday and do not trade on New Year's Day.

However, if New Year's Day falls on a Saturday, the stock and bond markets will be closed on the preceding Friday. Similarly, if New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, the markets will be closed on the following Monday.

It is always advisable to check with the specific exchange to confirm their trading hours on federal holidays.
