Does price spikes/price probes work?

This setup was detailed in "Short-term Futures Trading" by Jake Bernstein. Which time frame and which futures does it work? How to enter and how to exit?

Does Jake Bernstein not answer those question in the book? (I haven't read the book so I don't know what the setup is...)
