when asked what i do i say my job is to capture the swings from brown to green by knowing the numbers traders in the market and how they trade. i find it valuable to know that they often think the tools of the other traders are worthless, thus they are ignoring the ilk like me who simply want to know the moments in time when everyone has the same agenda.though i keep my gann work to myself,i thought i would give a rare glimpse of my gann chart... they are simply trading time by''leaning against'' the fixed gann that has always been in the market and always will be.the vertical lines represent trade location.

Thank you for info as always. Without giving to much secrets .. what book do you recommend for someone who wants to learn how to draw those green levels ? :)

they are simply the cardinal and cross numbers from the sq9.

You can look that up all over the Internet, Tomo. Sq9 calculators abound out there, and endless info on cardinal and ordinal cross numbers.

A lot of people like Mikula, and this book: The Definitive Guide to Forecasting Using W.D. Gann's Square of Nine by Patrick Mikula. I don't know what roofer thinks of him, or the usefulness of his work. Here's his website: http://www.marketwarrior.com

As I said, though, there is so much free on the Internet, that is a great place to start.

Yes I know the free info on the internet. Thank you both. I am not really into Gann and he had so many techinques that I was interested in those particular green lines. And on those free internet sites you can see that almost everybody uses them differently :)

tomo-yes there are many techniques. i confine myself to a few. one of the reasons i posted chart was the last trade. it was the 3 harmonics trade that i have posted before.i also trade with an awareness of where the gann traders congregate and targets based on angular swings from lows and highs.i pounded the table in gann world that IBM had to trade and turn at 69 handle based on my work...i really like my own work..but there is no harm done in knowing if other numbers traders(gann, pivot, mp, for example) are taking the same trade.the great mystery of using gann, and it is true of every single tool i use, is that it will cycle through the market for a length of time then be gone.there are stretches where for months the indu turns at the cardinal and cross... there were years on end where GE danced to that tune.. and to this day, IBM is where the gann traders congregate based on swing highs and lows.this is true of my own setups.. the traders dream will be traded for days on end.. then be gone,, the lightning trade triggered 19 times in dia in january a few years ago.. then was gone..the months before that it was 5 point heaven on the 5 minute charts.. then they were gone.i do not think i will ever figure this out...

But it sure is a cool phenonemon. I think I first noticed it, clearly, with the 4-Point CP, where the Russell mini would have them like crazy, then they would be gone. Then they'd come back. It got me to thinking if other setups cycled like that, too.

Thank you very much gentlmen. :) Great discussion over here. I am reading only few forums but this one is one of a kind.
Roofer what do you mean 'targets based on angular swings'? I also can see that things work for some time and they stop working and work again in some time again. That is why I think it is really smart to know few ways or methods you can use. But the hard part is recognizing first which one will work for some time. That is why people use Stochastics, MACDs etc and they say it works. Others try at the 'wrong time' and say nope. It doesn't :)

Tomo,

For me, I'm not saying the various things I see work and then stop working, what I am saying is I see them set up for a period, then not set up for a period. So, I have nine variations of ABCD's, and at any given time, in my experience, some are always setting up. I just go with whatever sets up. My observation, though, is that they don't seem to be randomly distributed, they 'group' more than I would expect from random. I don't have statistics to back this up, just observation, but I feel it is so. So, for me, I don't feel I need anything beyond the techniques I use now.

by angular swings i mean the moves around the sq9 in fixed proportions like 360 or 540degrees.

in tutoring a student( for free and with the stipulation that no private kane work will be shown.. if you dare ask the teaching stops!)it has been pointed out to me how important 1.00 is to me in two ways.. both as a simple retrace and in the sense that'' what is below is above'' kane traders know the second is not exactly 1.00...but you get the drift
