I get quite upset when I hear anyone talking about how good things are in their area, about how well they or some others are doing. As I mentioned before, I live in a very rural area that is very hard hit by this depression we are in. Everyone I know/see is suffering. The Walmart here has clearly shifted to looking more like a dollar store, with just endless junk on the shelves. On the first of the month it is standing room only.
The other day I saw a 10# bag of potatoes there for $5.50! At Walmart! I usually pay $1.79. Yeah, I have heard the excuses, there was a flood, or a drought, or whatever, and potatoes are up. Right. I hear that excuse about something every time I shop. Funny, though, they never seem to come back down much after the issue is resolved.
Anyway, here's some quotes from people that sound exactly like all my neighbors. The real bi#%& of it is, some day we will all look back at today and wish we could be here, calling this 'the good old days'. Trust me, we have it great right now. How sick is that...
