Definition of 'Form 8606'

Form 8606 is an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax form used to report nondeductible contributions to a traditional IRA, as well as the earnings on those contributions. The form is also used to report the conversion of a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA.

The form is divided into three parts: Part I, Part II, and Part III. Part I is used to report nondeductible contributions to a traditional IRA. Part II is used to report the earnings on nondeductible contributions. Part III is used to report the conversion of a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA.
