Multilateral Development Bank (MDB): Types And Examples

A multilateral development bank (MDB) is an international financial institution that provides loans and other financial assistance to developing countries. MDBs are funded by contributions from member countries, and they are governed by a board of directors made up of representatives from those countries.

There are currently 5 multilateral development banks:

The Asian Development Bank is the second largest MDB. It provides loans and technical assistance to developing countries in Asia and the Pacific. The African Development Bank is the third largest MDB. It provides loans and technical assistance to developing countries in Africa. The Inter-American Development Bank is the fourth largest MDB. It provides loans and technical assistance to developing countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is the fifth largest MDB. It provides loans and technical assistance to countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

MDBs play an important role in the development of developing countries. They provide much-needed financial assistance to these countries, and they also help to promote economic growth and development.
