Materials Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLB)

The XLB is the Materials Select Sector SPDR Fund (an ETF). It trades on NYSE under the ticker symbol XLB.

The Index includes companies from the following industries:

• Chemicals
• Metals & mining
• Paper & forest products
• Containers & packaging
• Construction materials

Criteria

1. Each of the component securities in the Index is a constituent company of the S&P 500 Index.
2. Each stock in the S&P 500 Index is allocated to one and only one of the Select Sector Indexes.
3. The Index is calculated by the New York Stock Exchange’s Index Services Group using a modified “market capitalization” methodology.

As of December 31, 2009, the Index was comprised of 31 stocks.
