Man, I can't believe you guys. Not one single post last week in the weekly discussion, and no one starting the topic this week...

So, did everyone see the area at today's low? The three ABCD's on the way up? Not a single post on this, or on anything...
And yes, Eric, this is historic. I suspect they will be studying this a hundred years from now.

Yeah, I was trying to bait anyone into some discussion, but no replies at all. I don't even know why I have this forum...
The amazing part to me is how bullish everyone is. In general, if my memory serves, the attitudes and discussion are more bullish now than March 2000, and far more than October 2007. I don't recall ever hearing so much bullish drivel. There is no talk about even a correction right now, it's only about how much further it has to go. Further, a lot further, or so much further there is no point to talk about it, it's so far off. Yesterday Laszlo said it may be five years before we see even a 10% correction. Imagine that!

Note we have the market way up and the VIX up solidly. That almost always precedes a market drop, in my experience. Not a big one, usually just a day, or even part of a day. Just a thought.

So, retail daytraders just set a record volume in August. Record means more than at any time in 1999-2000, more than off the lows in 2003 or at the top in Oct 2007. The most volume ever. Hmmm. Six months off the low of one of the most vicious bear markets in history, one that would 'normally' shake all retail out for a generation, and we are at record retail daytrading volume...

i have been away from the markets.but i will say this... the level of delusional and irrational thinking and action i am seeing in people i come in contact with from all economic levels makes the current stock market seem totally sane.

roofer, can you elaborate? Do you mean they are behaving like the economy is back to normal? Making irrational economic decisions? I'm seeing things I never thought I'd ever see, and you describe it perfectly: "...the level of delusional and irrational thinking and action i am seeing in people..." It's like they are on magic mushrooms or something, what I see out there. Has the whole world gone mad? Is this what happens before a complete collapse? Any more thoughts or examples would be appreciated, roofer.
This all makes me think of the famous book titled Extraordinary Popular Delusions & the Madness of Crowds, discussing the 1719-1720 period in time. Nothing has changed.
