last week jim expressed frustration at the repeated sameness...i gave that much thought... and here is what i think...i can not express the mindset of what i do any better than the combo of theses two...''why setup selection is key to decreasing cognitive overload'' @ www.stockbee.blogspot.com .... and www.zenhabits.net/one-thing....

this is where i take my stand...trading a set of predefined setups at the geometry.... everything flows from that point.... and all else falls away... yes there are details upon details...perhaps no one can do what i do...in the end i am trying to find a simple way to get from A to B.

EVERY THOUGHT i use has been explained at this forum..

recently i added some elliot work to my index thought process... but all i ask of it is this... if elliot has important pivot... do i have a trade signal...?

so what do i do? keep showing as i do?

Well, if, as you said, you feel that is all you can do, then I would ask that you keep doing it. It would be preferable to having you stop posting, preferable by a long shot. The one thing I wish you could do is show a little more about entry and stop placement. I know each of us could use our own entry and stop placement, but I'd like to know what you do.

I have heard about the 'enter the box, leave the box, reenter the box, close outside the box on the 5-min', but that doesn't seem to be what you are doing on the .886 gap on 5 technique. So, do you just hit that setup at the .886 when it touches it? What if it falls a penny or two short of the .886 and drops like a rock? Is the stop always just one fourth or one fifth the distance to the target, regardless of any technical factors? It would be useful to me to see this a few times on a chart.

Well, you have to figure, then, that if I still don't know what you are doing for entry on this one, and it has been explained and re-explained, I guess I see why few can make progress doing the work for my levels... Given my skills and background, if I still haven't been able to get all of what I need from your posts and doing my own work, what does that tell us...

Can you reference where the post is that I thanked you for the follow up? That way I can review that and try to understand why I still seem to feel I am missing something?

Jim, I think you probably do know the answers to your questions of roofer. I'm slowly going through the old posts of roofer's, starting back in 2007, and have actually discovered the post when he first thought he had something with the .886 gap open. It is very interesting to see his use of it back then.

More recently, I do know roofer showed a chart - don't remember the stock but it may have been CF - where he did NOT take the entry because price did not quite get to his .886 level. Roofer showed and admitted that he missed the run -- which I think was about $8 for that one day. I am in no way saying he always sits it out - that's for Roofer to say - just saying I've seen him show it.

In the early days, he says he looked for other confirmations to trade "at the extremes". I'm sure those confirmations have evolved over the years -- still waiting to get to the posts where he seems to have switched from mac/stoch to cci. From what I've seen so far, roofer does not ignore technical factors.

Both you and roofer are great traders with great style. Myself, Rat, and others can only dream of being 1/10 the trader either of you are.

Thanks to you both.

Yes, the posts I make are only for daytraders (intraday swing traders) looking to do 4+ trades per session, perhaps even a few more. Only my higher timeframe levels would be of even remote use to 2-5 day swing traders, for example. But, given how much are styles differ, even if I posted swing trading levels exclusively (something I could do as easily as posting intraday levels, probably easier, since there would be fewer posts), I still don't think it would be of much use to you. I'm more focusing on those that want to follow my style very closely. Your posts are very useful for those that like to lean more towards your style, or want to create their own approach from both our styles, and perhaps other work, too.

It is curious, though, that even though our skills and focus are very different, when I think about it, my intraday posts are focused on getting from point A to point B, too, though. I may not switch sides in every case as soon as point B is hit, but I frequently mention how sometimes a level is used for management (I don't like it to trade against, but will tighten my stops up when it is hit, and be ready to start scaling out on a reaction), or trading (I like the area, and plan to get off the current side if in a play and onto the other side, or just onto the other side if flat). So, the levels are either point A or point B. In that way I think our focus and styles aren't that different.

I can do it when I run across the specific post where Jim has thanked Geo for the explanation. I am certain I have not seen it yet.
I have my notes but I'll wait to see if I can add to them.

tx, perhaps you are correct, in that I know the answers. I guess for me, I'm very, very verbal, and although I'm also visual, and live and die by charts, I don't think I internalize things until I see them in writing, or hear them verbally. I guess I 'need' to see, in writing, something like 'Okay, for entry I do this... and for stops I do this... and here's some examples with marks on the charts showing this...' and so on.

One may guess this from looking at how I write so much, on and on, on everything, where everyone else just does a few lines. Those who have talked to me on the phone know that if you think I write long and excessive, you should hear me talk. Makes it seem like my writing is short and concise... So, I think that is a part of what I am struggling with, and it has to do with my own learning style.

As far as your nice comment on my (and roofer's) trading, well, I'm pretty humble (despite how many people draw the opposite conclusions by misinterpreting my writing style), and I find myself thinking I wish I could be 1/10 the trader you think I am!

i do what i do because i collect...then i look for what has happened before to happen again....i remembered the setup in UCO from a setup in TLT that i posted in this forum... but i also remember what happened afterwards in TLT.. WAS THE TRADE WORTH IT ... YES but was it worth overstaying the target... not in the TLT example... not in the UCO EXAMPLE...
