Purpose is to compile important quotes that have been posted in this forum and that have can't miss information whether obvious or read-between-the lines.
This sticky is meant so they don't fall between the cracks.
Most of these are going to be from Jim, but other members like Roofer and T have posted valuable insights here as well.

All I ask is that everyone stay on topic in this thread. Quotes only, no charts or off topic posts. We only have so much room for sticky or the entire front page will be all sticky topics, so let's use it for what it was intended only. Thanks, crew.

Jim quoted from thread ES 6/15:

The bottom line for me was the plays were in the AM, that 4PT, the pullback after that, and the ABCD at 10:53-54, and that was it. It's typical after such a big drop once it hits about 11:00 Eastern or so to just range trade. Great for scalpers, but I'm usually done at that point. Today followed the pattern to a T. Unless the LOD is a primo higher timeframe setup, I'm usually done after that first hour and a half. If they explode it up I can look for a setup, in the unlikely event that they give one, but the risk is usually too high for me, based on the unlikelihood of good enough follow through. And as I frequently say, I don't try to guess my way out of a range.

"I don't try to guess my way out of a range." is one of my better ones, I think, for this methodology.

Curious to see the VIX up on a monster up day. That almost always happens when a reversal is imminent (even if it is a one-day reversal).

Also, make sure you look at the price action. Today was also a great example of the price action being what I would call 'very technically predictable'. I'm not saying I'm trying to make 'predictions', what I mean is it followed a script very closely as far as doing what I saw as the most probable outcome at every step. It's all probability, and some do what I expect, and some don't. Some days, like a run in cards, you have a run, and some days most of the highest probability scenarios don't play out. All I can say is the action was talking loud and clear today and it was then following through on what it was saying. Bottom line, study this day until you see it. Then study the other days.

As far as the chart, be very wary of standard ABCD's with ABCD's in the CD legs, as we have here. I consider this one of my biggest 'red flags' of everything I watch for.

Thanks for the post. I love this section, and wish it was more popular. I think it's really useful.

As far as the 'first move is almost always wrong' Fed move, it is based on the direction it takes into the close.

Jim on 11/6:

"It's just a game they play when they aren't going to take it down but they have a lot of trapped people thinking they will, and this gets the rest of the people wrong-footed to the max. I watch for it every time I sense the move will not continue, but looks like it should."

Jim quoted on 11/5:

I take from Elliott the ideas of impulsive and corrective, and the idea of what starting moves can look like (W1 and W2 concepts) and ending moves (W4 and W5 concepts), and what happens in between, I could care less about. I find that rarely fits any Elliott counts. I don't care if people in here do counts, but understand that isn't part of my methodology except as outlined just now.
