well i can honor that in the simple way i have with my students by having them study the not accurate work of pesavento...case in point is the IWM I POSTED ON 3/15. limited by not being able to show the .685 and the 1.46, i point them to the pesavento method of calling them .618 and 1.41 overshoots.

i have no reason to disrespct jim's wishes...but i have no illusions that this forum was not hacked at one time... remember back when this was the ONLY place i had shown the .886 on gap... jim was getting emails from asia asking for more details on setup.

roofer, I'm not opposed to you showing a handful of select students the parameters I use for the TD and EXP ABCD, I just ask that you don't post those parameters with the ABCD's (in a way that shows those are the parameters I am looking for) in a public forum so that everyone can then see how I use them, and that you request from your handful of students that given they are getting that information for free without even buying my books that in exchange they agree not to post publically those parameters.

It may have been hacked, or maybe someone in here betrayed my confidence. But my thinking is that just because someone may have gotten their hands on some proprietary information and disseminated it, I don't want to then give up and release all my proprietary information for all the world to see. In fact it is quite ironic that it seems to irk the roofer that I have taken to not posting any proprietary mentor work in this forum, when it is his pointing out this very fact about thinking this forum was hacked that completely stopped me from posting anything from the mentor work!

With that work I control it to the extent that the students sign a very long, very legally rigorous nondisclosure agreement which I would very strongly hold them to. If that material is posted in here and hacked I lose total control of it. As time goes on, though, I realize why so many will reveal nothing to anyone. Once you show something, you give up some measure of control of it. If you truly want it to stay proprietary, you have to keep it totally to yourself. If you feel its usefulness would be compromised by it becoming public knowledge, you would have to keep it under wraps or risk losing your years and years of hard work.

If you believe like I think roofer does, and others (I think Scott Carney is in this group, based on discussions we have had), that it would make little difference regardless of who knows the work, then you'd be quite comfortable releasing your proprietary work. It's all a matter of opinion as to where one stands on this, and each person has to make their own decision.

I went out to make myself a sandwich, and was thinking about the last few posts. It just hit me roofer had mentioned several times the .886 gap and the Asian currency pit traders, and the possibility that this forum was hacked. It hit me that perhaps there is some inaccurate information here. I don't recall any Asian currency pit traders saying anything to me about the .886 gap technique. Way, way back, years before roofer first showed the .886 gap technique in here, I was told by an Asian currency pit trader who bought my books that the .886 was being watched very closely in the pit there by most of the traders. I'd have to hunt up the e-mails, but that was probably in 2004, maybe 2005.

I released the number officially in AFTC in 2003, but revealed it to Scott as early as perhaps 1999 or 2000, somewhere in there I think, and he put it on his website, crediting me with it, when he incorporated it into his Bat pattern. Hence it was likely this guy bought my books after researching the .886 his fellow traders were using, and tracing it back to me and my work. Most have adopted the .886 by now. I was following a chat room created by Lewis Borsellino, and the guy running it said something like 'watch this level here, it's an .886 retracement'. I can't recall the year but it was way back, maybe 2005.

The point is, if the reasoning for thinking the forum was hacked is the Asian currency pit traders using the .886 gap technique, I'm afraid there was some miscommunication at some point. Even though currencies do pit trade, they are a 24-hour market, and a gap technique wouldn't be that useful for that, like it is in stocks. Even if it was completely the most useful technique there was, I have never had any Asian currency pit traders mention to me or ask me anything about it, only the .886, and only many, many years ago.

Perhaps roofer has other examples of information he only posted in here that he then saw elsewhere, but many people in here came to me via Tim Morge's forum, and still post over there, and they likely wouldn't feel anything shown in here by roofer as being something they should never post elsewhere, so perhaps that is how the information got out. I don't know, but I'm not 100% convinced this forum has been compromised.

I still won't post proprietary mentor material in here because this isn't a forum for only mentor students. It's not too fair for those people to pay up for training from me, and then to have me come in here and give that to others for free. And perhaps roofer is right, prehaps the security of this forum has been compromised, so I don't want to post my most proprietary material in here anyway.

jim- i look at it 180 degrees.... it is actually quite freeing to not have you show mentor work...if i have figured out some of it.. and it is not in your books or in this forum i do not worry about it...as you know ever since my traders dream was pirated, i have taken the opposite tack. the train of thought is this.. if i show my very best work for free many times.it will be obvious to all that it cant have any value because no one gives their years of work away for free... but if some knucklehead then ever attempted to sell it, he would be hooted down by the trading community.i really dont care.as grace paley said when asked why she did not write novels'' life is too short;art is too long.there is alot more to life than writing''

I hear you, roofer.

One of my long-term students has said to me many times 'Isn't this enough material already, though?' He was referring to what he already knew, and the need to know some of the newer material I had discovered, and some of the things I was willing to release that I hadn't shown yet. At some point there is enough to work on building a 'Trading Plan' from. We don't have to show any more than we have shown already. Isn't this enough for everyone?

Why show more and more, why not work with those that are interested, as they come and go, with what we have shown already? Is it because we get bored, and as we discover and refine, as you said, we keep sharp by showing stuff? I think that surely is a big reason for me, to stay sharp explaining things and so on. But, if I'd get bored just showing the core material, then I need to rethink it, because I don't want to show all super-proprietary material to all comers.

Ditto, Jim and Roofer...
Since the time I had discovered and pointed out the 'Hack-glitch' in this site, I have deleted ALL of my prior posts' charts pics that revealed some of my prop work that at first i felt safe to show, the TRS and pattern morphing concepts among some. I do not feel obligated nor do I feel the need anymore to post my most advanced latest work(and there are so many awesome stuff i've got) in this forum because of fear of misappropriation by unknown source and the thought of getting my stuff rendered useless by widespread knowledge is unbearable to me. So I'm back into my own little shell and will just limit my post to keep fresh and to provide some newer basic KT 'training' examples to help others who genuilely participate for the sake of their own trading future using the already available material in this forum and in the books. However I won't add any more 'value' to the forum by posting new ideas, concepts or techniques . I'll keep the experimental stuff private just because I've become lazy and selfish
The eagerness to show my work has long been gone.I am not a published author so I have no desire for recognition or fame.My first goal or wish was to be able to collaborate with people who share the same trading methods and knowledge to work on new projects and ideas etc... but that never happened because of the lack of participation and interest in that endeavour.
. No need to explain things further on my part.
Jim, and the others who post in here with regularity have my total respect and admiration for being so persevering.
I regret that this forum has taken a path of stagnation rather than growth but mistakes are made along the way to greatness so we'll see.
I understand that not everyone is on the same level but what's the hold up for those who never post? the conspiracy theorist in me says that they are just spying on our every moves and glean every bit of new material that they can get and use it for their own agenda and never give back anything. Where is the effort to get better? All u get is silence...or they just pop up in another forum or another 'trading floor' with a corrupted version of what's been showed in here. Go figure...
My new goal and wish for this froum to stay productive and helpful without getting the prop or mentor stuff out is to discuss more of the trading psychology and the human side of the KT methods, not just trade setups. That's a big subject that would encompass many other topics from context to price action to trade management to trade execution, probabilities, instinct, discretionary approach etc u name it...It's easy to find areas i think but it's another thing on what to do with it. and how to deal with overtrading. How to deal with overanalysis as in seeing patterns that are not there making something out of nothing. How to deal with overleveraging position sizing etc ...
There are many forgotten subjects that are worthy of discussion in here but never seem to get talked about. It seems like everybody has a perfect mental aptitude, perfect emotional control so the only interest are on the setups. Setups won't make u a dime if u don't have the right mindset to follow ur plan. I'm just sayin'.

let us know what u r thinking folks
regards,
T

Hey T,

Great post. I agree with all of it. It's too bad both you and I have developed so much stuff and we wind up keeping it to ourselves. I am in your camp in that I think revealing it will dilute it to the point of uselessness. It only makes sense to me that if you have an edge and you tell the computer drones how you exploit that edge they will work it to death and it will disappear. But roofer has blasted his stuff out there in great detail and it seems to have no effect on it whatsoever, so maybe his take (and Scott's, as I understand it) is correct and it doesn't matter. Or maybe it matters for some things and not others. I just know the risk to me and my well being seems great revealing things that took me thousands of hours to discover.

I can't explain the lack of participation, or lack of interest, except to say it is the same on every forum I see everywhere. There are always one or two or three posters, and everyone else does nothing or asks super-low-level basic questions and that's it. There just aren't too many people willing to do the work, the tens of thousands of hours it takes. I'd say this is America, the home of the fat and lazy MTV generation, but it's a worldwide audience, and it doesn't seem to matter. All I know is I've tried and tried, and I can't get the interest. I mean, I mentioned perhaps getting together for a week in real time for free, if a certain set of conditions could be met (the key one being a certain level of participation), and it wasn't even close. If you can't even give it away, what does that say?

As far as the other topic, yes, T, those are great issues, ones I talk at great length with my students about. Once the techniques are mastered, those areas become the most important to work on. But, alas, it's not been anything in here that anyone wanted to spend time on. I've done what I can as far as articles and commentary on the website, but I'm not going to spend time I don't have starting endless topics in here that get three reads, it's just nuts. That's why I have said many times I'm just going to fold the forum. But then two or three people tell me it helps them a lot and they implore me not to, and I don't. But, it's such a small handful. And it seems to me we are really doing some amazing work in here. Oh, well, as T says 'I'm just saying...'
