Risk off. Too much buying too fast. It just needs a little rest. But I doubt it will last long.

Maybe I'm just bored out of my mind with this slow market today. I try not to comment on other people's work too much. I disagree so strongly with Carl's conclusions here that I wanted to put it on record. Yes, rates may be 'breaking out'. Yes, stocks will likely go much, much higher on more money printing. Recall when Zimbabwe went into hyperinflation their stock market was the highest performing in the world. You could buy less for a share of stock than before, but the price sure was up.
But the conclusion that the 'breakout' in rates (which may be nothing more than just another small bounce) is due to a greatly improving economy that will bring unemployment way down, to me, that's about as silly of a statement/conclusion as anyone has ever come up with. He's not the first to spout the propaganda party line. If the economy and unemployment stats improve, in my opinion, it is 110% due to additional faking of those stats, especially during an election year.
I have yet to find one single neighbor or community member I know who says they aren't in real bad, hurting shape. Sure, some of you in more affluent areas know some people who are doing great, but I know of not one single person. Pump gas is headed to $5 (and I believe $6, $8, and then $10+ when we go into Syria and Iran this year, as well as introduce more QE), and yet they keep telling us about the economic improvement. It's all lies, all 100% hype and fake statistics. So, although much more fakery is at hand, don't believe this kind of utter nonsense. I feel it is incredibly damaging to the average person, as well as the society as a whole, to spread this kind of propaganda.

I agree with you Jim. In my opinion rates have to go higher for people to buy this sh.... People will go out of now risky government paper and go for yield to more risky assets. That is why we will see transfer from government paper to private paper. And that will push stocks higher longer term. Probably also gold etc. Old stuff, art maybe even real estate will rise some. If it was not so called reserve currency noone will buy US papers now. But big big guys cannot hold money in the bank as FED and others guarantee only small amoount of it. That is why US can sell their bonds.
This is only my 2 cents :)

I agree. It's things like this, not an improving economy, that will cause money to move. Saying the economy is improving, and due for a substantial improvement, is about the most insane thing I've ever heard. But there will always be propaganda minsters, and propaganda cheerleaders, so take it with a grain of salt...
