I thought I'd create a new topic and try something out and see if it seems beneficial to everyone. I'll try to post every day or so the times that setups completed that I thought were good based on the methodology. I will only do posts for times for 3-minute or higher timeframe setups. If the setup is on a 1-min or 2-min but could be used as an entry setup for a higher timeframe bias I may mention those, too.
The idea here is to point out the completion points for setups I thought were acceptable so everyone can make sure they see the setup, and go back and do the work, perhaps working through how they might have entered, managed, and so on. Mostly, though, it is to give everyone a chance to see the places I thought were the best setups on a given day based on my application of the methodology. Some will not have 'played out', but were still worth looking at.
One more point. These are not necessarily going to be areas I traded off of, they are going to be areas I thought were good enough to be looking at. I am not implying I traded them. I may have, or may not have, but that will be independent of whether I list them here. I want to give everyone a chance to 'start to see' the areas I think are the ones that best fit the methodology.
Most of these will be ABCD's, even though I will sometimes find areas that have enough for me to consider them without the ABCD. As I generally say to my students 'The ABCD is the 'hub of the wheel', the center point of where I start.' I suggest until one has the methodology down cold, start everything with the ABCD. I may, though, throw in a few setup times where other factors contribute to the area (like POC, pivots, GLOBEX points, and so on) such that some of the usual KT factors may be less.
As you will soon see, the posts will be in a format something like this, of course subject to any improvements I discover as I try this:
March XX, 2009
10:34 AM EXP ABCD, 3-min
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Jim,
Yes, I am still around. I am just getting back to the computer. though, after being away for a couple weeks. I missed some great price action and it is good to be back.
I am still studying the awesome KaneTrading methodology and paper trading it. I love "doing the work," applying the KaneTrading methods and am trying to improve every day.
I am going to post later in the YM topic thread.
Good Trading, All

Very good idea, Jim. Thanks !
If possible could you post the entry trigger you would use on the setup ?

Okay, let's give it a try here. All times Eastern. L for long side, S for short side, obviously.
3/31/09
10:28 L: Flat/4-Point hybrid, as entry setup for move off 60-min area at 3/30/09 low
12:34 L: DT ABCD with .786 ABCD in CD leg and key set lower //
14:53 S: Major 30-min area with .564/.685 and key division line, creates bias for next setups
15:29 S: ABCD at .618 at set upper //
15:40 S: B=D ABCD at 3.82, minor area
15:56 S: DB ABCD at 3.82/.447 overlap with key set upper //
796.50-800ish was also key shorting area on 13-min around noontime, but it didn't act right for that.

Very cool. Curious if you went short a the 14:53 top or waited for the Wave 2 setup?

quote:My take on that was the 'wave 2' for the intraday mini because the SOB's just kept running it and I wanted a lot of confirmation, but as an 'add-on' spot for SPY puts I was looking right as it rolled off that .564 line area and gave a small trigger there.

quote:BBJ, I'll have to think about that, because if I am to do this most every day for awhile, it has to be easy or I won't do it. It would add a bit more for me to do the entry trigger, as I'd have to go back to the chart for each setup and drop down and recall what I was seeing at the time and add that to each one. The setups are easy because they are on my charts, and I can just glance and write them up quick. But for triggers I'd have to get back to the entry timeframe for each and look it over. I'll see if I can find an easy way to do it, but I'm not sure if I have the energy for this until I see how much time it will take me.
