Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Old Yeller is going to absolutely put the final nail in the coffin of the middle class, the dollar, and this country/world. She will go down in history (if any written word survives, and I suspect it may not) as the one who tipped it over into chaos. Let me quote from one of my all time favorite message movies, the original Planet of the Apes. Charlton Heston, in one of the best overacted scenes ever, only to be rivaled by some of Captain Kirk's best stuff, finally, together with the audience, realizes what the planet he is on is all about.
He's not at all on some other planet, he's on earth, in the future. He/we now understand this as he/we see, as he travels down the beach, the upper part of the statue of liberty sticking out of the sand (Hmmm, I wonder, was that an incredibly prophetic coincidence, or not...). Then he drops to his knees and says what has echoed in my head every day since 2005 or so (when I really started to understand), and will every day going forward until it's completely done:
"Oh, my God... You finally, really did it. You maniacs!!! You blew it up! God damn you! God damn you all to hellllllll!

Interesting article, but I'm mostly posting it as a reference for this one quote.

Now, wait, during a deflation their currency got cut in half? No, hold up, wait, all I've ever heard is that during a deflation cash is king, it's super rare, and its buying power increases. Yeah, uh-huh, that's what really happens in the real world. My money gets me more stuff. Uh-huh. Deflation and less buying power. Makes sense.
