I'm wondering about possible scenarios for a full playout of this test and retest at SPX showed here on Friday:
... and the only reason for a quick drop from here to the lower ML could in my opinion be a failed 5th wave at SPX and ES. Because on many other indexes the recent rise looks like already completed 5th wave:

GOOG after the bell. That may shake things up. I can't imagine anything but a big beat and huge gap up for GOOG. Let's see.
Well, looks like they are going to cash close it right at the key area, same with CL and GC. Same old, same old with that shtick.

I'm not sure my commentary today was worth too much. It was a very odd day as far as price action. It was a completely straightforward day, in my opinion, as far a trading. It hit a very key area early, and up from there was pretty much a given. There were several setups after the intitial reversal. The methodology was pretty clear on that.
So, one was either in and riding the grind, or had a chance to get in, and, again, ride the grind. The best I offered was that it did run to the first area I expected. None of the comments on how odd the price action grind seemed to be were really of any use, but sometimes it's like that. It was remarkably odd, so it was worth pointing out.

BTW, the pattern was the same (hit the area early today, rose steadily the entire day, with setups along the way) for CL, GC, 6E, etc. Do some higher timeframe 'context' work to go with 3-min or 5-min charts and you can see the trading potential in all those today. Just a get 'em set up and let them run day...

Wow, GOOG missed earnings? They are down almost 5% in the after-market? How can this be? It can't be... So, will they say some very positive things in the conference call, and then it will rise tomorrow in the pre-market, and wind up up on the day? What games will they play? No way GOOG can be down when the market is going up hard, right? The market is, for 99.99% sure, going up in here, right? Am I making any sense? I hope so. There is a point in there.

Thanks. I can only throw out all my 'trader talk' (or really 'trader think') and then readers can sift for useful concepts. Some traders don't care about any of this, and some do. Many have said I think too much.
This much thinking may not be good for most. I do it because it is my nature, and I think finding a way to be true to one's nature is a key to success. I also do it because I think I do better when I do it. If I thought it hindered me, I'd perhaps find a way to stop doing it.
As long as it is understood what my basic approach is, then all the comments can be viewed with the necessary 'context'. Look for setups according to the methodology, and then manage them according to the 'Trading Plan', of which one component is where are areas I am concerned about and may want to tighten up the stops. I try to point those areas out when I can.
The setups should be obvious, and jarek does a great job showing those, mostly in advance. If one grasps 'context' at all, and looks at jarek's charts, it should be fairly easy to determine what I'm likely doing/looking at at any given time.

BTW, silver hit a new high for the entire bull, over $42. So, gold and silver have made back essentially all or more since the big Goldman Sucks sell call. I wonder which side of the market Governnment Sachs was on at that low???
