I decided to split off my postings of economic links from Jim's Thoughts, so that I can get that topic back to what it was intended to be, a place for me to post trading ideas and thoughts I had that I felt could be of interest to the readers.
This topic is where I will post links to various economic articles, for those that find them interesting. If you want to read (or post) articles about the unfolding debaucle, this is the place to look. If you are a short-term daytrader or swing trader and have zero interest in the economy, you can now just read Jim's Thoughts and not have to wade through this type of dicussion.
At best I think this material only has a direct effect on longer-term plays, the bigger swings that make up the major legs of the bull and bear markets. I follow this stuff for that reason, and because I want to have a handle on things, if that is even possible in this era of lies and deception, so that I can make decisions on life issues.
For example, as I posted in the commentary on the website and discussed with many people well in advance, this was something that wasn't hard to see coming. I saw many people who told me as late as Oct 2007 that 'this thing is about to 'break out' to the upside, and that Dow 20,000, and then much higher, was 'just around the corner' '. The type of articles I am posting discuss the type of information that helped me form the viewpoints I had back then.
If this is far from over, as I suspect, we are in a similar postion now as back then. With the rally that is unfolding right now the talk is the bull is back, the bottom is in, and we are set. I'm not so sure. So, I try to weigh up all the factors and not get too sucked in by the hype. To that end, I will post things here I find interesting.

A basic article, but just what we were talking about with money printing and speculation:

This isn't really an economic link, so maybe it should be in Jim's Thoughts:
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2009/06/prweb2537224.htm
So, Neely joins Prechter and the guys at xTrends. It would be something to see, that's for sure.

Amazing, Terry Laundry is calling for bull until Aug 2010, Prechter and Neely for imminent crash and 300-under 500 in rapid order. Very interesting.

Sounds to me like nobody has a clue. Let the charts speak.

Well, when your job is to predict, you must predict. Then, after it is all over, they pick the stopped clocks who were right at the right time, and make multimillionaires of them. That's just the way it works. That's why I always say I never say where anything is going, I have no idea, I only say where I might be looking to put on a trade because I feel I might have an edge at that spot. Trading vs. predicting.

Here's a link someone I know passed along to me:
http://www.moneyandmarkets.com/new-hard-evidence-of-continuing-debt-collapse-34202
I hadn't read it until just now (can't keep up with all these articles), but I do follow the website. It's great if you like to look at the other side of what's on TV.

Another one I read a bit when I'm tired of the rah-rah lunacy on TV is this guy:

And yes, most if not all of these guys that tell the other side of the story are fear-mongering, trying to sell their services, just like the rah-rah cheerleaders are working it for their side. So, I look at what the fear-mongers say about the data, with what the cheerleaders say about the same data, and I can get a better handle on where the truth may lie.

Sure seems like lots of bad news is just waiting in the wings:
http://www.moneyandmarkets.com/california-collapsing-34271
Anything could happen in Iran, and any spread into other middle eastern nations would really be an issue. Not to mention we are dogging that N. Korean ship, with some advisors saying we should board it, which N. Korea said would be an act of war, and they may launch WMD's into Seoul. Let's add to that while we are dogging the N. Korean ship, a Chinese warship is dogging us. I heard that if we try to board the ship they may move to intercept. Lots of potential bad news right in the wings. It's not that there isn't always bad news at the ready, it's that the market is now primed to move down aggressively on bad news. Time will tell. All that matters, in my opinion, is if the gov has money left right now to push into the market or not, or if the printing presses need to cool down for a few days for maintenance.

I forgot, I do have another hero to go with Ron Paul and David Stockman, and that's Nigel Farage. Here's his latest:
