I decided to split off my postings of economic links from Jim's Thoughts, so that I can get that topic back to what it was intended to be, a place for me to post trading ideas and thoughts I had that I felt could be of interest to the readers.

This topic is where I will post links to various economic articles, for those that find them interesting. If you want to read (or post) articles about the unfolding debaucle, this is the place to look. If you are a short-term daytrader or swing trader and have zero interest in the economy, you can now just read Jim's Thoughts and not have to wade through this type of dicussion.

At best I think this material only has a direct effect on longer-term plays, the bigger swings that make up the major legs of the bull and bear markets. I follow this stuff for that reason, and because I want to have a handle on things, if that is even possible in this era of lies and deception, so that I can make decisions on life issues.

For example, as I posted in the commentary on the website and discussed with many people well in advance, this was something that wasn't hard to see coming. I saw many people who told me as late as Oct 2007 that 'this thing is about to 'break out' to the upside, and that Dow 20,000, and then much higher, was 'just around the corner' '. The type of articles I am posting discuss the type of information that helped me form the viewpoints I had back then.

If this is far from over, as I suspect, we are in a similar postion now as back then. With the rally that is unfolding right now the talk is the bull is back, the bottom is in, and we are set. I'm not so sure. So, I try to weigh up all the factors and not get too sucked in by the hype. To that end, I will post things here I find interesting.

Another sleepless night for me, as usual. The real hell of it for me is that we'll have discussed this for a long time, it will all unfold exactly as expected, and then everyone will say 'How did we get here, why didn't we see it coming...?' It's just awful to know the future, see it unfolding, and be absolutely powerless to do anything to change it.

To just be a cow marched up the ramp, hearing the loud popping noises followed by thudding sounds on the floor, knowing fully what they are and when you'll be fed into the meat grinder, but only being able to just continue to march up the ramp, while all the other cows go on about their business like they were walking in a green pasture.

And don't even get me started with all those with optimistic talk, or the 'I'm storing up some food and gold and I'll be fine' people. What is happening is going to be the single most significant event in human history, in my opinion, and as it unfolds it is barely talked about, proportional to its level of significance.

How much did Europe talk about Hitler as he was rolling over borders? As much as we talk about what is truly going on here (not about how bad the economy really is, but about what is unfolding with respect to the country, the system, and our future free rights)? Not even close, I think. Yet this will prove to be much, much more significant to human history, I bet.

Just trying to wake a few people up, and hopefully they wake a few people up, probably just in time for that .22 charged sledge hammer to hit you in the forehead at the end of the ramp...

Here's a great way to get a holistic overview of the current status of things. Scroll down on this, and just read all the article headlines in red (feel free to do more, but that's all you need for my point here). And then tell me you are optimistic. And tell me that many stocks, like Midcaps, Russell, Trannies, Retail, etc., belong at all-time highs. That they are more valuable now than at any time in history. Yeah, right. Those are bull conditions. Yeah, uh-huh. Yeah, the market is all-knowing, and is forward-thinking, usually by six months, a discounting mechanism. Okay, sure. What a joke. The market is clueless.

Yep. Sounds about right.

Hey, at least this is the first sentence I've seen for anyone involved with the crisis. But, that's not the point of the comparison...

I forgot, I do have another hero to go with Ron Paul and David Stockman, and that's Nigel Farage. Here's his latest:
