I decided to split off my postings of economic links from Jim's Thoughts, so that I can get that topic back to what it was intended to be, a place for me to post trading ideas and thoughts I had that I felt could be of interest to the readers.

This topic is where I will post links to various economic articles, for those that find them interesting. If you want to read (or post) articles about the unfolding debaucle, this is the place to look. If you are a short-term daytrader or swing trader and have zero interest in the economy, you can now just read Jim's Thoughts and not have to wade through this type of dicussion.

At best I think this material only has a direct effect on longer-term plays, the bigger swings that make up the major legs of the bull and bear markets. I follow this stuff for that reason, and because I want to have a handle on things, if that is even possible in this era of lies and deception, so that I can make decisions on life issues.

For example, as I posted in the commentary on the website and discussed with many people well in advance, this was something that wasn't hard to see coming. I saw many people who told me as late as Oct 2007 that 'this thing is about to 'break out' to the upside, and that Dow 20,000, and then much higher, was 'just around the corner' '. The type of articles I am posting discuss the type of information that helped me form the viewpoints I had back then.

If this is far from over, as I suspect, we are in a similar postion now as back then. With the rally that is unfolding right now the talk is the bull is back, the bottom is in, and we are set. I'm not so sure. So, I try to weigh up all the factors and not get too sucked in by the hype. To that end, I will post things here I find interesting.

Don't read the paper, just the writeup before and after the paper:

This is a must read for anyone with morals and scruples. I truly believe they have total control of the entire world's food supply now (and other non-food commodities), and plan to run them again (look at wheat, yeah, right, that move is justified on Russia's drought, or the recent run on sugar, based on India's drought). They will make billions and billions, and many will die of starvation, and the middle class will finance the profits, just like they did when oil went to $147 and it all trickled down beyond gasoline prices. It's a sick, twisted game, and even as a trader, I think it should be stopped. Stopped dead in its tracks. But it won't be. Kiss your savings goodbye, again, but at least it isn't your life, like it will be for many...

This is way cool (and way sad). Don't do the tour, just let it load and hit enter, and play around.

Kind of twisted, but I think it is right on:

Unfortunately, it doesn't paint a nice future for the world, or for us...

Try as I may, I just can't focus on the trading and forget about the underlying issues. I guess, to me, that would be like picking up nickels in front of a bulldozer (that old description of trading) that just morphed, like in the movie Transformers, into a monster that is licking its lips, staring right at me, and revving its engines. Somehow concentrating on the nickels just doesn't seem to make sense anymore...

This sums up my basic overview quite nicely. I think we are so utterly screwed it's just not comprehensible to most people, even financially savvy people like traders. When a problem is just so big, and there simply are no solutions, the instinct is to just stick one's head in the sand, since 'what can we do anyway?' Like the commentary I did awhile back, a global reset is coming, and I believe nothing can stop it.

Tomorrow, next week, next year, a few years, who knows, but it is coming. And I think the hard times will make the Great Depression seem like a cakewalk. The damage was done for two decades, and the price has to be paid. The laws of mathematics can't be repealed, only postponed. Like I said, I feel Greenspan, the facilitator of this debacle, will be responsible for more human suffering than Hitler. It's the craziest thing I've ever said, but I believe it will come to be part of the history future generations will read about in disbelief...

I forgot, I do have another hero to go with Ron Paul and David Stockman, and that's Nigel Farage. Here's his latest:
