I decided to split off my postings of economic links from Jim's Thoughts, so that I can get that topic back to what it was intended to be, a place for me to post trading ideas and thoughts I had that I felt could be of interest to the readers.

This topic is where I will post links to various economic articles, for those that find them interesting. If you want to read (or post) articles about the unfolding debaucle, this is the place to look. If you are a short-term daytrader or swing trader and have zero interest in the economy, you can now just read Jim's Thoughts and not have to wade through this type of dicussion.

At best I think this material only has a direct effect on longer-term plays, the bigger swings that make up the major legs of the bull and bear markets. I follow this stuff for that reason, and because I want to have a handle on things, if that is even possible in this era of lies and deception, so that I can make decisions on life issues.

For example, as I posted in the commentary on the website and discussed with many people well in advance, this was something that wasn't hard to see coming. I saw many people who told me as late as Oct 2007 that 'this thing is about to 'break out' to the upside, and that Dow 20,000, and then much higher, was 'just around the corner' '. The type of articles I am posting discuss the type of information that helped me form the viewpoints I had back then.

If this is far from over, as I suspect, we are in a similar postion now as back then. With the rally that is unfolding right now the talk is the bull is back, the bottom is in, and we are set. I'm not so sure. So, I try to weigh up all the factors and not get too sucked in by the hype. To that end, I will post things here I find interesting.

This is one of the best descriptions I've read of what I think is unfolding (it's not a blood and gore description, it's the political aspects):

Only read the part 'Stoneleigh: On the Nature of Political Crisis'.

Here's more of what is now 'mainstream', the stuff Jim was saying years ago.

http://www.zerohedge.com/article/us-government-bond-bubble

I know this is terrifying, but everyone should at least consider the ramifications of what a 'global reset' is, and what it will look like. Study what happened in Russia in '98, or Argentina pretty much any time you pick... Now imagine worldwide, with nowhere to run. Understand most of your food comes from far, far away. Imagine the world needs 83 million barrels of oil pumped and distributed daily or the world as we know it implodes. Imagine no currency of any kind, no banks. Imagine what will happen to all farm fields as people have no food. How will you get your food? If you say from your stockpile, how will you protect that from roving hoards of armed, starving people with molotov cocktails in hand? The crazy thing is, I don't think I'm being overly dramatic.

Let me paraphrase from the movie 'Six Days Seven Nights'. Let's say you ask me what I think we are facing, and what we may be seeing. I ask if you want it straight up or sugar coated. You say 'You decide'. I say the above. You then say 'Geez, is it too late to get it sugar coated?', and I say 'That was sugar coated'. I'm not joking, folks, I don't see this as a one in a million scenario, I see it as essentially inevitable, like from any day now to up to three years from now. Maybe they come up with some unimaginable additional extend and pretend scheme and push it out a bit more, but the more they do, the worse the fall, and the more unstable the system. I'm not into drama, I'm into truth. That's my new saying.

I'll close with some Hell's Bells from AC/DC:

"I'm a rolling thunder, a pouring rain
I'm comin' on like a hurricane
My lightning's flashing across the sky
You're only young but you're gonna die
I won't take no prisoners, won't spare no lives
Nobody's putting up a fight
I got my bell, I'm gonna take you to hell
I'm gonna get you, Satan get you
Hell's Bells
Yeah, Hell's Bells"

"I'm not into drama, I'm into truth."

Lest anyone think I'm just plain crazy, or I like being negative (I don't, actually), a saying comes to mind to clarify my objectives in posting this stuff. We have all heard the Latin proverb 'Fortune favors the bold', but few know a derivation of Louis Pasteur's similar saying 'Chance favors the prepared mind', which is 'Fortune favors the prepared mind'. Think, and be prepared. In the books and mentoring I discuss how I have a plan for every possible potential outcome for an unfolding trade. Yet with your very lives are you just waiting to see and then you'll try to think of something on the fly??? Be prepared.

Another example of why essentially nothing is actually being done to solve any of the problems. This is so discouraging...

Another key read:

http://www.zerohedge.com/article/democracy-failure-follows-market-failure

Perhaps Hungary comes in out of nowhere (or Austria) and kicks over the first domino, while everyone is watching the PIIGS. Especially focus on the last paragraph, and his last line about staying long tail risk (if you don't understand tail risk see Nassim Taleb's work). I also took note of his comment about how you may see the collapse and be positioned for it in your portfolio but not actually get anything out of it (after all, how do you get paid when the currency your position is in no longer exists and the counterparties are gone...).

I'm not saying I agree on the timing here, but you get an idea what this guy is expecting soon:

I don't know, folks. It seems people just don't get it, and they just keep giving away their money. Whatever happened to the idea of doing due diligence, and being careful with what took your whole lifetime to save up, slaving away at work? Not only that, this article points out to me just how deep the Ponzi scams are in this entire market/economy, and how 'regulators' do nothing about it. And there are like $1.4 quadrillion in derivatives out there that haven't even been addressed, not to mention essentially no one even knows what they are, who holds them, what the counterparty risks are, and on and on. My thoughts were collapse is 'imminent', but it may take 3, 5, 10 or even 15 years, who knows, they have so many scams and extend and pretend schemes. But I feel we are way past the point of no return, so global reset is 100% (110%) certain at this point, in my opinion.

Some great info on the beloved FNM and FRE, and how deep the rabbit hole goes... Dig the future housing price drops the one guy is talking. Talk about deflation.

I forgot, I do have another hero to go with Ron Paul and David Stockman, and that's Nigel Farage. Here's his latest:
