I decided to split off my postings of economic links from Jim's Thoughts, so that I can get that topic back to what it was intended to be, a place for me to post trading ideas and thoughts I had that I felt could be of interest to the readers.
This topic is where I will post links to various economic articles, for those that find them interesting. If you want to read (or post) articles about the unfolding debaucle, this is the place to look. If you are a short-term daytrader or swing trader and have zero interest in the economy, you can now just read Jim's Thoughts and not have to wade through this type of dicussion.
At best I think this material only has a direct effect on longer-term plays, the bigger swings that make up the major legs of the bull and bear markets. I follow this stuff for that reason, and because I want to have a handle on things, if that is even possible in this era of lies and deception, so that I can make decisions on life issues.
For example, as I posted in the commentary on the website and discussed with many people well in advance, this was something that wasn't hard to see coming. I saw many people who told me as late as Oct 2007 that 'this thing is about to 'break out' to the upside, and that Dow 20,000, and then much higher, was 'just around the corner' '. The type of articles I am posting discuss the type of information that helped me form the viewpoints I had back then.
If this is far from over, as I suspect, we are in a similar postion now as back then. With the rally that is unfolding right now the talk is the bull is back, the bottom is in, and we are set. I'm not so sure. So, I try to weigh up all the factors and not get too sucked in by the hype. To that end, I will post things here I find interesting.

Not a bad little synopsis, if simplistic, of the U.S. nightcrawler situation:

I know, it's Prudent Bear, but this lays out exactly what I have been saying all along. It just looks like it may be 2010 or 2011 when the next leg comes, as I've alluded to recently. As M has said, the world had its one chance to do the right thing, and, of course, it did the exact wrong, and worst, thing it could have done instead, in my opinion. And now we will all be forced to pay. Kind of nuts how this may all unfold into the fabled '2012' so many are talking about...

In my opinion, it's coming. Coming soon, to a theater near you. I'm just pointing this out so everyone can do their own due dilligence and maybe not have to be in a bread line. Then again, maybe we will all be in bread lines, no matter what we do. I'm just trying to find ways to not get completely hammered when this unfolds.

If you want to get sick to your stomach:

Unless it is just me that gets sick over this? You need to read the comments, too, they contain a lot of additional information.

For those that still hold out some hope that this thing is over, and not in the third inning as I suspect:

M's market shock event is just around the corner. Which corner, who knows, but I think it is a very close corner. Hey, I'm just one guy with one opinion (which I will state below), but I don't look at what this article says as one possibility of many, with a small chance of happening, I see it as essentially inevitable, with a greater than 99.99% chance of happening. As I have said all along, the USD will go to zero. Tomorrow, 2010, the infamous 2012, who knows, but in the not too distant future. All gold bullion (including coins) will be confiscated, as it was in the Great Depression, and you won't keep your paid off house, either, because you will not be able to pay the taxes, no matter what you do right now, no matter how you prep yourself. And if you read the article carefully, you see, as you can in many other Zero Hedge and Mauldin articles, how banks lending will trigger the hyperinflation scenario, and lo and behold Ba-rock-star Obama today called in the big banks and ordered them to lend. Is this it? Armageddon starts?

I think this is a great overview of the currencies. Look especially at that Euro fair value chart.

I forgot, I do have another hero to go with Ron Paul and David Stockman, and that's Nigel Farage. Here's his latest:
