I decided to split off my postings of economic links from Jim's Thoughts, so that I can get that topic back to what it was intended to be, a place for me to post trading ideas and thoughts I had that I felt could be of interest to the readers.
This topic is where I will post links to various economic articles, for those that find them interesting. If you want to read (or post) articles about the unfolding debaucle, this is the place to look. If you are a short-term daytrader or swing trader and have zero interest in the economy, you can now just read Jim's Thoughts and not have to wade through this type of dicussion.
At best I think this material only has a direct effect on longer-term plays, the bigger swings that make up the major legs of the bull and bear markets. I follow this stuff for that reason, and because I want to have a handle on things, if that is even possible in this era of lies and deception, so that I can make decisions on life issues.
For example, as I posted in the commentary on the website and discussed with many people well in advance, this was something that wasn't hard to see coming. I saw many people who told me as late as Oct 2007 that 'this thing is about to 'break out' to the upside, and that Dow 20,000, and then much higher, was 'just around the corner' '. The type of articles I am posting discuss the type of information that helped me form the viewpoints I had back then.
If this is far from over, as I suspect, we are in a similar postion now as back then. With the rally that is unfolding right now the talk is the bull is back, the bottom is in, and we are set. I'm not so sure. So, I try to weigh up all the factors and not get too sucked in by the hype. To that end, I will post things here I find interesting.

Here's what I think is a nice, simplified synopsis of why I think we are totally and utterly screwed. Same old, same old from the power-mongers. This is a must read for everyone in here, in my opinion, even if you hate this section and skip all the articles I post. I'd hope you will all pass the link on to everyone you know, traders and everyone else alike.

Another must read/watch for those that don't understand the level of corruption and the reach of the Vampire Squid. From the movie 'The Matrix', as quoted to Neo by Morpheus:
"The truth is, Neo, you are a slave."

This is one of the things that scares me the most (the total collapse of the USD is number one, of course). I don't see this as something they are just looking at, or something that is slightly possible maybe, I see this as inevitable, and likely not too far down the road. If you don't understand what they are saying here, or this doesn't scare you, you are asleep at the switch. Argentina did this recently, the precedent has been set. If they confiscate all the 401(k)'s and IRA's in the country, they can extend and pretend, and keep the biggest bubble of all time (US treasuries) going a little longer, so they can loot us even further before the complete collapse.
Yes, it's all negative. It was negative, too, when Hitler's troops massed on the Polish border. Imagine telling someone in those days he was too negative because he reported the troops are starting to move over the border, and then going back to whatever it is you were doing, ignoring this information. Sounds absurd, right? Trust me, the troops are massed, and they are starting to stir.

This is worth reading. I find it so sad how deluded people are, and how they just won't open their eyes to what is coming. Everyone I talk to just tells me I'm too pessimistic, and everything is going to be fine. I guess that's true, if you define 'fine' as having your entire life savings, what you worked hard for for decades and decades, reset to zero for you as being 'fine'. I don't think, as I approach retirement, that that would be all that fine for me.

This one is insanely comical, a real 5 star rating for me, if one is up on all the Zero Hedge things so that all the references and nuances are understood. If so, you don't want to miss this:

So, on top of all the tax increases this new healthcare bill imposes (as traders we are going to get killed, with LT cap gains, which we pay at 60/40 on all futures, going up from 15% to 25% and then to 30%, among other taxes), I am fully expecting the VAT next, not in place of income tax, but in addition. And while some said it would be small, look at Europe. We are looking at likely 20%-25%, and that's just to start. This country is over, in my opinion.

Here's a few links for the maybe at most one or two people that read these when I post them. Is there even one of you left?

The first one explains the behaviour you see before implosions. This holds in any unstable situation, as shown in physics, not just markets. The second shows who is really running the show and ultimately how this will end.

I forgot, I do have another hero to go with Ron Paul and David Stockman, and that's Nigel Farage. Here's his latest:
