I thought I might try something different here, and see how it goes. It's quite difficult for me to post a lot to the various topics, especially with charts, since the method I use for posting charts is very cumbersome. Some charts can take me a half hour or more to put together. Since the charts I use for posting are not my 'working' charts, this work is duplicative.

I have various ideas and thoughts here and there about different things, and if I have a 'central clearing area' where I can just put out a sentence or two, pointing to something without doing the work, the members can do what assessment and analysis they want with the ideas, and post charts if they want, preferably to the respective areas they have for that topic. This way it would leave this topic more 'clean'. If you have a question or comment on what I was pointing out you could post that in here.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this, or anything you think would be helpful/useful. Keep in mind I am not going to just tell you all my best setups in advance, especially if I plan to trade them, as that is not 'what I do' in here, or anywhere. I want to point out things that may need some work, and might go unnoticed otherwise, or are just of interest.

So, they cut the discount rate 25 beepers, and extended the term from 30 to 90 days, and look at the market...

Tim Morge was saying he sees no reason the Euro can't go to 3. If the other currencies did similar moves that would put the index at about 35. With the Euro by far the most heavily weighted in the index, even if the others don't move as much, that still has the $ quite a bit down. Given it was, what, well over 120, down to 35, well, that's a little bit of devaluation. Unfortunately, I think it may all wind up being a tipping point in here, and a negative feedback loop could be started, and hence it all happens in a very compressed time span. I, for one, am very, very scared right now, to be honest. Even if we stabilize, I still feel we are on the edge of a huge cliff, and the ground keeps crumbling bit by bit, and it seems not a matter of if but when...

They are really starting to run this up, 11 points off the bottom now. Nice buyable dip that was there :-)

I agree. What makes it more scary is intricate knowledge of a situation.
Past crashes/crisis such as 87, Pound collapse or Asia crisis did not grip me, because I was mostly oblivious to them. It's important to remove oneself from the eye of the storm. One way or another the world moves on.
Still time to buy some euro then, Jim...although if you believe what Jim Rogers says the Euro will not exist anymore in another 15 years.

Honestly, I'm truly surprised the Euro has lasted this long, and I can't imagine it still existing in 15 years, so in that regard, I agree with Rogers.

I think the second chart is particularly telling. I agree with the conclusion, this market is nothing more than Euro-yen carry trade on, Euro-yen carry trade off. No balance, no participation, no depth, as I discussed in my last monthly commentary, just leverage/deleverage, risk on/risk off, and that's it. Skynet is totally sentient. How long, like in the movie, until the machines decide to vaporize the useless humans?
