I thought I might try something different here, and see how it goes. It's quite difficult for me to post a lot to the various topics, especially with charts, since the method I use for posting charts is very cumbersome. Some charts can take me a half hour or more to put together. Since the charts I use for posting are not my 'working' charts, this work is duplicative.
I have various ideas and thoughts here and there about different things, and if I have a 'central clearing area' where I can just put out a sentence or two, pointing to something without doing the work, the members can do what assessment and analysis they want with the ideas, and post charts if they want, preferably to the respective areas they have for that topic. This way it would leave this topic more 'clean'. If you have a question or comment on what I was pointing out you could post that in here.
Let me know if you have any thoughts on this, or anything you think would be helpful/useful. Keep in mind I am not going to just tell you all my best setups in advance, especially if I plan to trade them, as that is not 'what I do' in here, or anywhere. I want to point out things that may need some work, and might go unnoticed otherwise, or are just of interest.

Some of my students struggle with the idea that what makes sense to them, as far as 'fundamentals' and logical market moves, is at odds with what the market actually does. We all know trading is about trading what you see, not what you think. Hence my comment about my trading what I think they will do, not what I would do. Understand, too, this mostly applies to swing plays and such, not quick intraday trades, where at best some intraday sentiment may play into things.
I have a little mental trick I do that helps me in this process. Most of my students who struggle with this issue tend to think of the market as 'neutral', in that if nothing is pushing the market at a given time, it will obey the laws of physics and just sit. I find that not true. It may still 'follow the laws of physics', but it is like a helium balloon. It's natural state is to rise, not sit there. So, if it is pushed from below it goes up fast, and it takes more energy to push it down than up. It's natural state is to rise with ease.
We don't have to get into the mechanics behind this tendency, but I feel it has to do with constant devaluation of paper currency (which then reprices the market based on the lower currency value), the optimistic nature of people (and suckers in particular), and mostly the endless hype that rigs this game to draw in the suckers and make billions for a handful. The point of this post is to show the following article, and I thought this may all be a good lead in.

This will be interesting. We are getting intraday climax values as we hit into a key bounce area. If they can't bounce it here, watch out.

Well, if you think that is something, try this:

Be forewarned. This has little to do with our day to day trading, it's only for those who want to understand more of 'how things work' behind the scenes. It is a long, long read, and the site is a bit hard to negotiate. It should make one angrier than maybe they have ever been. It should also have you questioning all the 'trading stars' you see in all those supertrader books. And it should make it hard for you to trust just about anyone from Wall St. or anyone on TV. It includes names and quotes and such from about everyone we have ever heard of. I can tell you right now, not a lot of 'big trading money' has been made the way we all try to do it...

Yep, none of the posted articles really have anything to do with the intraday trading. They are just something to amuse onself with, if one likes to probe into the nonsense that goes on behind the scenes. Nice charts.

I watched some of the congressional hearing today and one congressman asked all the bank crooks in chief if they invested any of their own money in their companies stock last year. Turns out that three of eight did...a surprisingly high percentage.

I got to thinking about that. Say you've taken several hundred million out so far, which most of them have. The stock goes way down, in some cases deep into single digits. So, you know some day soon you'll be in front of Congress, and they will be grilling you. What did you know, and when did you know it? Can it be shown you believed the company was s#%, but you were just trying to suck it dry for all it's worth. So, you figure, of those hundreds of millions, you dump a few hundred thousand on some cheap stock. Now, you can say, heck, I was busy buying the stock with my own money, that's how much faith I had the company would turn around, and so on. Pretty cheap insurance. It may sound cynical, but no way, no how will I ever believe these guys aren't anything but human garbage. Sorry to be so blunt, but that's what I feel. I think they lie and manipulate 100% of the time, and I think this is the equivalent of an 'alibi note'. That's my two cents.

I think the second chart is particularly telling. I agree with the conclusion, this market is nothing more than Euro-yen carry trade on, Euro-yen carry trade off. No balance, no participation, no depth, as I discussed in my last monthly commentary, just leverage/deleverage, risk on/risk off, and that's it. Skynet is totally sentient. How long, like in the movie, until the machines decide to vaporize the useless humans?
